Intro to Digital Photography

This workshop will give you the essential skills needed to get started with digital photography.  Students will learn about camera controls, file formats, resolution, memory cards, downloading images to your computer and emailing images.  Bring your camera and your manual.  Classes are kept small so there will be plenty of opportunity to get your specific questions answered.

Basic Photography– all day class
In this intensive all day class, students will learn all the settings on the camera, how to use them and how to control the photograph’s final look. Discussions will include composition, light, how to get the background in and out of focus, how to stop or blur motion, when to choose one ISO over another, aperture vs. shutter priority. This is not a film or digital class, but a class covering the basic principles of how a camera works. Bring your camera and manual with you. Instructional time will take place in the morning, then we will have a catered lunch brought in and after a short break we will walk to a nearby park and have time to photograph scenery using the different techniques and principles discussed in the morning session. A critique will follow, allowing students to learn on the spot.

Sumi-e Watercolor Painting classes offered at Grebinger Gallery!

Grebinger Gallery is very excited to offer classes where students can learn the Asian art of Sumi-e painting. Sumi-e, literally “ink painting” originated in China is described best as an art form that strives to capture the essence of an object or scene in the fewest possible strokes.Our two week class will begin with studying and practicing the brush strokes necessary for creating a “chrysanthemum” painting. “Chrysanthemum” being the second of four traditional sumi-e techniques called the the “Four gentlemen.” Students will complete several compositions in the 6 hour of class.

Class will be held two Saturday mornings, October 23rd and October 30th from 9:00 to noon. Class fee is $105.00 for the two weeks, with an additional materials fee of $45.00 per student.

Learn to create textures in watercolor using salt, sponges, plastic wrap and rags.  We will also learn how  dry brush, control drips, spattering and scraping can add drama to your paintings.  We’ll go slowly, step by step and paint the same subject together during class- working on a different painting each day.  Classes to be taught by Judy Beck Lobos.
